Language Solutions Supports UNW Memorandum Signing in Dibër, Maliq, and Vlora
Language Solutions was proud to be part of a meaningful and symbolic initiative organized by UN Women Albania across the municipalities of Dibër, Maliq, and Vlorë for the official signing of the “European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life”.
These events marked a significant step forward in strengthening gender equality at the local level, and our role was to ensure that every voice was heard clearly and accurately across languages.
Client Request and Our Immediate Response
The process began when we received a request from the organizing team at UN Women to provide professional interpretation services for the events, which would include high-level meetings and official ceremonies in the three towns. The interpretation services required a combination of whispered (chuchotage) and consecutive interpreting, given the nature of the meetings and the presence of international guests and local authorities.
We quickly mobilized our internal team to evaluate the scope, timeline, and technical requirements. Since the events would be held across different cities and include formal protocol, it was essential to match the right interpreters with the subject matter and context.
Careful Interpreter Selection and Preparation
Drawing from our trusted network of professional interpreters, we selected experienced individuals with prior expertise in gender policy, human rights, and legal/municipal terminology. We understood the sensitivity and importance of the UN Women Memorandum and aimed to provide an interpretation that reflected both the spirit and precision of the message.
To support interpreter preparation, we requested all relevant documents and background materials in advance, including the text of the Charter and the official speeches. This allowed our interpreters to familiarize themselves with the tone, terminology, and context well ahead of the event dates.
Logistics Coordination and On-Site Support
Although Language Solutions is based in Tirana and the events were held in Dibër, Maliq, and Vlorë, we worked closely with the client to coordinate the interpreters’ schedules, location details, and on-site protocols. The client arranged transportation for the interpreters, while we ensured they were equipped, briefed, and fully supported before departure.
Each event required adaptability and discretion, especially in settings where whispered interpretation had to occur during dynamic conversations and public speeches. Our interpreters maintained professionalism and cultural sensitivity throughout.
